This was such a fun way to spend a morning in Maui. We booked with Maui Off-Road Adventures and selected a morning time slot to beat the heat. The entire tour was two hours total, and that felt like just the right amount of time. It’s pretty action-packed, as you spend most of the time traveling at high (or what feels like high) speeds on rugged trails.
The ATVs hold four people and we ended up with two for the four of us, giving everyone eligible a chance to drive and allowed everyone to sit in front. You will definitely get dirty, and you might get wet. We knew this going in, but were still impressed by the amount of dirt covering us.
There are two stops on the tour. Both are at scenic viewpoints and provide an opportunity for a little educational talk by the guide and a chance to swap drivers. At the second stopping point, we were given guavas picked on the property to sample.
By the time we made it back down to end the tour, there was mud everywhere. MOA provided paper towels and sinks to get us to a point where we wouldn’t destroy the car. It was a good day to be on vacation though because a dip in the ocean followed by a good scrub in the shower was much needed.
